Sit(x)®: Situational Awareness in Real Time

Features

Sit(x)®: Simplifying Situational Awareness

Bridge Adapters

Bridge adapters allow third-party systems to send and receive data to Sit(x)® groups and allow Sit(x)® integrators to develop microservices to inject an interoperability layer for TAK consumers. Organizations can create and manage their own bridge adapters. These have the same security requirements as regular connections but use a different authentication strategy that is better suited for enterprise environments.

Data Sync

Data Sync, a TAK plugin developed by our team, works with Sit(x)®. Users of WinTAK can leverage Data Sync to create, view, and update missions via the Data Sync tool.

GvStreamer

Now you can livestream unmanned aerial system (UAS) video, device video, and stationary camera video securely and simply. Users can configure access to video sources within the Sit(x)® web user interface.

Security and Privacy Controls

With Sit(x)®, your data is your data. We ensure your data remains private through strict policies and security controls.

Sit(x)® Dashboard for Clients

Log in to your Sit(x)® account and create groups, chat, see active groups, and which groups you are federated with. The Sit(x)® service provides high levels of confidentiality, integrity, and security for all users and can instantly scale from small teams to thousands of simultaneous users for crisis response.

Sit(x)® for Natural Disasters

Our innovators have developed several tactical capabilities over the years to assist first responders. This solution brings data to the edge, allowing quick and accurate action. When a hurricane or tropical storm hits, Sit(x)® provides mapping, communications, and situational awareness so you can be mission-ready.

Sit(x)® FAQs

Q: Is Sit(x)® available for use only in the United States?

A: No, Sit(x)® is a fully exportable solution that can be used anywhere. It is currently in operation on every continent.

Q: Does Sit(x)® work only with ATAK-CIV?

No, Sit(x)® is a technology-agnostic service that can connect users on all flavors of TAK, including -CIV, -GOV, and -MIL, as well as iTAK, WinTAK, and web-based users.

Q: Does Sit(x)® work only with other Sit(x)® users within your server instance?

A: No, Sit(x)® users can work with other Sit(x)® servers or federate with traditional government off-the-shelf TAK Server users. Data can flow uni- or bi-directionally at the control of the agency administrator.

Q: How many users can I have on a Sit(x)® server?

A: Sit(x)® can support as many users as you need, running seamlessly in the AWS GovCloud. As a fully scalable solution, users can choose to have as many accounts as they deem necessary for operations and flex when necessary.

Q: Can I incorporate full-motion video?

A: Yes, you can pair Sit(x)® with our GvStreamer engine to process and distribute full-motion video to all your connected TAK users for a flat fee per organization. This service has been tested at 10 concurrent upstream videos distributed to 100 concurrent users at TAK’s native 3Mb/s streaming rate with no issues.

Q: Does Sit(x)® require technical skills?

A: No. The user interface is very simple. Sit(x)® was designed to be used by anyone. Setting up an account, creating new Sit(x)® groups, and sending federation requests are easy and only take a few minutes. There are no special skills required.

Q: What does it mean to federate a Sit(x)® group?

A: Federating Sit(x)® groups simply means joining different Sit(x)® groups so they can share TAK data, such as the movement of active TAK users, map markers, drawings, routes, or even photos. Federation of groups can be done within or between two or more organizations. You can also set the duration you want the federation to last. This could span a single unique event or could be set up for long periods of time.

Q: Is Sit(x)® secure?

A: Yes, Sit(x)® offers end-to-end secure connections, including two-factor authentication. You can even disable single or multiple devices remotely if needed.

Q: Can Sit(x)® be used on more than just cellular data connections?

A: Yes, Sit(x)® can be used across various data connections: cellular, WiFi, and MANET/mesh networks (i.e., Wave Relay MPU5 for high bandwidth and GoTenna for low bandwidth), just to name a few.

Sit(x)® for Mobile

Sit(x)® Mobile is a secure situational awareness application for defense operations—enabling real-time tracking, messaging, and mission coordination on a tactical map. Sit(x)® Mobile is available on both iOS and Android, operating within AWS GovCloud to ensure secure, scalable deployment for TAK users—enhancing geospatial visualization and situational awareness wherever the mission leads.

Sit(x)® Connect

Sit(x)® Connect enables you to easily connect your TAK applications across Android devices and provides high levels of confidentiality, integrity, and security for all users. The application grants teams the ability to connect Android (ATAK), Windows (WinTAK), and Web (Dashboard) within the same operating environment.

Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) was originally created by the U.S. Department of Defense for military applications. ATAK-CIV is the civilian version, now available free to first responders and civil agencies.

Developed to run on Windows PCs and Windows Surface devices, WinTAK maintains the look and feel of ATAK and works seamlessly with the Sit(x)® TAK Server. Download the latest version at TAK.gov (requires account registration).
